In the U.S. alone, over 140 million cell phones are thrown into landfills every year. If all the cell phones were recycled, it would save enough energy to power 25,000 households for one year.
We are trying to raise awareness and will continue to partner with EcoCell to protect our Kentucky waterways from the dangerous chemicals contained in e-waste.
We are also working on an educational program and i-device collection partnership between Metro schools and EcoCell. Please watch for our bill on e-waste as Kentucky is one of the last states without regulations or laws addressing e-waste.
